The series is called The Ultimate Braai Master and will be aired during prime time on SABC3. Produced by Cooked in Africa Films and hosted by Justin Bonello, the show promises to keep South African's glued to their seats from the first episode on 16 September.
The Stoned Olives are leaving Betty's Bay on 15 July to start filming the 52 day, 8000km culinary road trip through South Africa during which time they will have to beat the other teams in 13 location-based challenges to win the title, R500 000 cash and a Renault Koleos 4x4. Each team consists of a braai master (Ronel) and a braai buddy (Billy). Braai competitions, physical challenges and strenuous "Survivor"-style conditions will keep teams on their toes – contestants will at times even be expected to catch and source their own food from nature. Each week 1 team will be eliminated from the competition during the road trip until 3 final teams remain. The winning team (from the final 3) will be announced during a live broadcast on 6 December.
Eliminations will mostly be the result of lost challenges as determined by 3 judges (Justin Bonello, chef Bertus Basson and chef Marthinus Ferreira) but at times contestants will be judged by local communities, celebrities and the other teams. Public opinion will also be taken in consideration in appointing the winners, as the public has been invited to meet all the teams, view video clips and vote for their favourite contenders on www.ultimatebraaimaster.co.za

** The Stoned Olives – Billy and Ronel have known each other for 9 years, share a love for nature and spend most of their time out of doors fishing, diving, spear fishing, collecting wild mushrooms or other edibles, walking in the mountain or just enjoying a good braai at home with their 8 year old son. Billy is well known in the fishing community and as a regular on the beaches in his wetsuit with a spear gun at his side and is obsessed with fish – if he's not hunting them for the table he cares for them in his work as an aquarist. Ronel is a freelance graphic designer and publisher of the annual telephone directory, The Hangklip-Kleinmond Book and loves taking photographs, counting all her aloes and staying fit trying to obtain her purple belt in karate.
